Union Migrant Network

Trade union membership for third country nationals can massively accelerate full inclusion in the hosting society and the labour market. Trade unions are a home to millions of immigrants all over Europe.

UnionMigrantNet was launched in 2015, and comprises a network of trade union contact points across the EU, where new arrivals and their families can obtain information and support on issues like employment, documentation, housing and integration.

The www.unionmigrantnet.eu portal offers services and information in different languages, and real-time advice from experts. The network also provides a forum for cross-border exchange of best practice.

Migrant workers in Europe are on the frontline of the response to the COVID-19 crisis. Now more than ever, the crucial contribution of migrant workers to support European economies, public services and fill labour shortages is crystal clear. These workers are to be found in those sectors most hit by the crisis agriculture, domestic and care work, public healthcare at all levels, food industry, construction, tourism, transport) putting their lives at risk for the sake of all of us. Their work is essential; however, they are the forgotten ones.

On International Migrants’ Day, the trade union movement reiterates its solidarity with undocumented migrant workers.
