Commenting on the deal today in ‘trilogue’ on social security coordination, Liina Carr, Confederal Secretary at the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) said
“The deal agreed today improves and clarifies the rules for mobile and posted workers. There are some improvements for working people – the portability of unemployment and family benefits, giving extended opportunity to look for a job in another member state – as well as measures to support the fight against social security fraud in posting of workers. Member states will have the advantage of clearer European-wide rules on who from other member states is entitled to social security and in what circumstances.
"I urge the Council and Parliament to approve the deal.”
