The British Trades Union Congress (TUC) has launched a Black Network – the first-ever national database set up to capture the contribution of black workers across the trade union movement and create a space for growth, empowerment and progress.
“The TUC Black Network will be a powerful tool to connect, amplify and support the work of black activists, reps, organisers and trade union employees and officials,” says the Congress.
This is the first-ever move to preserve and promote the legacy of black activists in the trade union movement and to create an important historical record. It will commemorate, celebrate and preserve the memory of black activists who have helped to improve the lives of other workers and build stronger, more inclusive unions serving as a source of education, inspiration and encouragement for current and future generations. The TUC is inviting all black trade unionists to join the “ground-breaking” network and build a comprehensive and inclusive record of black collective achievements.
