A thunderclap action on social media calling for an end to racism at work, organised by the Belgian CSC trade union, reached 105,678 supporters in March.
According to the CSC, one in every two workers with an immigrant background in Belgium suffers prejudice from his or her colleagues, clients or managers. It can take the form of insults, intimidation, exclusion, or the withholding of important information. “Discrimination at work is a major problem,” confirmed the head of the union’s French-language Diversity Service, Luan Abedinaj. Together with its Flemish-language counterpart, the unit will evaluate the outcome and possible new initiatives.
