Reforming the Litigation Group into the Fundamental Rights and Litigation Advisory Group Adopted at the Executive Committee Meeting of 16th and 17th December 2015 Throughout Europe workers and their unions are experiencing attacks on their hard won rights, and fundamental human rights including labour rights are being questioned. 

Statement from the ETUC Mobility, Migration and Inclusion Committee Stop discriminating against refugees on grounds of nationality! The ETUC has received information from informal and informal sources around the so-called ‘Balkan route’ of entry to the EU that since 19 November 2015, the states of FYROM Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia have been allowing only Syrians, Iraqis and Afghanis to enter their countries.

We, the European trade union movement, stand in solidarity with the people of France, and the French trade unions following the murderous attacks on innocent people in Paris. We, trade unions throughout Europe, condemn without reservation these barbaric murders. There can be no justification for the deliberate, cold-blooded taking of people’s lives, for causing injury and trauma, for bringing grief to the family and friends of the victims. We commend the bravery of the police, security and emergency services, and ordinary citizens, during and after the attacks. 

The ITUC and the ETUC wish to offer a contribution to the Valletta Summit through this joint statement. This contribution complements and integrates positions that the ITUC and ETUC have repeatedly issued for a rights-based approach to migration and asylum in Europe and worldwide.

Resolution on the Role of the ETUC 2015/2019 – follow up: ETUC reorganisation Adopted at the ETUC Executive Committee on 28-29 October 2015   Document on the role of the ETUC for the next mandate 2015-2019 The ETUC Congress in Paris endorsed a Document meant to set priorities and proposals for action, in order to renew and strengthen the role of the ETUC. The Executive Committee is called to adopt any necessary resolutions for its implementation.

ETUC position on National Competitiveness Boards  Adopted at the ETUC Executive Committee on 28-29 October 2015 Introduction On 21 October the Commission adopted a Recommendation for a Council Recommendation requiring euro area member states to establish national Competitiveness Boards. At the level of each (euro area) member state, these boards aim to: a)    monitor competitiveness developments relative to global competitors (including labour costs).

  The ETUC represents all working people in Europe.  It exists to negotiate, campaign and take action for better living and working conditions.

Emergency motion - Refugee crisis in Europe Adopted at the ETUC 13th Congress on 30 September 2015   In recent months Europe has been experiencing a massive increase in numbers of people crossing our borders to seek protection from war and destruction in their own countries.   

Document on the role of the ETUC for the next mandate 2015-2019 Adopted at the ETUC 13th Congress on 2 October 2015   Foreword This paper is meant to set priorities and proposals for action, in order to renew and strengthen the role of the ETUC. It will be discussed in the last panel of the Congress on ‘the ETUC of the future’. At the end of the panel, the document will be submitted to the Congress for endorsement.

Emergency motion on fundamental rights in Spain  Five years ago, on September 29, both major Spanish unions, CC.OO and UGT organised a general strike against the neoliberal reforms that the Spanish government was launching in Spain. On Tuesday, as the ETUC Congress opened, Spanish workers continued to suffer the impact of the economic crisis, the labour reforms and a trade union witch-hunt, with 300 trade unionists penalised for exercising their right to strike.
