The President of the Eurogroup, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, “should focus on policy changes to boost recovery instead of making stupid comments”, said Katja Lehto-Komulainen, Deputy General Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation.
“With workers in seven EU Member States earning less than they did eight years ago, and Europe stuck in low-to-no-growth, Mr Dijsselbloem should be looking for new policies instead of insulting Eurozone countries. Europe desperately needs more public investment and measures to encourage pay rises to drive growth. That’s what the President of the Eurogroup should be doing.
“His recent call to restore collective bargaining in Greece was welcome, his insults and his apparent determination to stick to inadequate policies are not.”
