ETUC General Secretary John Monks today called on the European Commission Competition Directorate to initiate proceedings and conduct further investigation into the proposed merger of Group 4 Falck's security business with Securicor
The ETUC has associated itself with a complaint of Union Network International, UNI, that the merger would raise serious doubts as to its compatibility with the common market.
Indeed, the ETUC fears that it could represent the first step towards a decline in standards and a culture which respects collective bargaining throughout the common market.
